Value of the Architect (VOTA) video is an aural and
visual depiction of the profession of architecture.
It verbally details the education and training that
goes into becoming an architect, the role of the architect
on a building project and the basic design and construction
process. It highlights Leadership, Process, Creativity,
Knowledge, Communication and Responsibility as the attributes
the architect brings to a project.
Visually, it shows the results of
the work of an architect: beautiful, functional and
unique buildings. A wide variety of New Jersey buildings,
designed by New Jersey architects, are incorporated
into the video.
The video gives New Jersey architects
an appealing and very usable tool to tell their story
and build understanding and recognition of the importance
of hiring an architect for all building projects.
It can be the centerpiece of any type of presentation.
The availability of this tool provides an impetus
for architects, on the individual, section and association
level, to aggressively seek opportunities to discuss
the profession and its contributions to the local
and state communities.
