Conference 2004
Technology
and Architecture
Just as the industrial revolution changed the way
we build things with the introduction of new technologies
such as the steel frame, the computer revolution is
changing things today even more significantly. While
the revolution has been around for a while, the massive
computing power now available, coupled with advances
in software, and a new generation of computer proficient
architects is touching all parts of our practice.
These changes have brought tremendous change as well
as tremendous opportunities to both practicing architects
and graduating students. How are these changes affecting
the way we practice, how do we see them affecting
our future work, and what new opportunities might
they offer for expanding the services we offer? This
conference will address the sweeping changes that
are reshaping the way we design and produce buildings
as computers become more and more powerful.
